What's the story?
One of our Galleries was having a show called "Dishin' it Out" and asked Dennis to contribute some of his pottery pieces. When I heard the theme an image popped into my head of an elegant woman, sitting at a long, elaborately set table, toasting her dog who was sitting at the other end. I convinced the gallery owner to let me put a painting in this all-ceramics show, but when I went to start it I did not have any elegant silver or china with which to set up a still life. I did, however, have lots of pottery and realized I could do "portraits" of specific pots and tie in with the show's theme even more effectively. What ever else you read into it is up to you! Below is a key to the painting and the potters whose work is represented. The dog is our hound Penny, but the people are made up. The red wine is from the vineyard down the road from us - Valley View Winery.
