We are moving back to Portland because we feel the need to downsize, focus on our professions of making art, be closer to a major market for selling that work and, most of all, to be near our families and grandchild who is arriving in the world this January. To those who find it hard to believe that we would walk away from such a magical place, we point out that "we make things and sell them in order to made more." Hummingbird just happens to be the largest piece of art we have ever created. We will miss our friends and community here, (and the sunshine!) and plan to visit often.

We advertise only through brochures and a web link with the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce and a link on the Britt Music Festival site. Our B&B revenue doubled each year from 2004-2008. It has held steady in 2009 representing about 40 nights when we had one to six guests. Clearly there is room for growth here! The wine industry in the Valley is growing fast and we have not even attempted to capture that market.

Art Workshops - unlike the B&B, which was an after-thought, our studio was built to accommodate ceramics workshops. For the last six summers we have been presenting 3 to 5 three-day workshops with prominent ceramic instructors and have attracted participants from Hawaii to NewYork, as well as Ashland and Portland. Several years we have also included painting workshops which were equally well received.
This year's Applegate Green+ Solar Tour centered on the northern part of the Valley so they encouraged us to hold a tour of our own.

The property located 10 minute drive towards Applegate Lake from the surprisingly well serviced community of Ruch (roosh) which has grocery, medical, dental, massage, chiropractic, school, library, 2 churches, a farm/ garden/hardware store, a florist, a good restaurant, coffee kiosk, postal service, hair dresser, fitness salon and more.
