Hummingbird also includes a large adobe studio building where Dennis and Leslie create their artwork and hold classes and workshops. There is often room for B&B guests to work here.
In about 700 square feet of workspace there are six potter’s wheels available, canvas covered tables, an extruder, miscellaneous handbuilding and throwing tools, shelving, sinks, a small ‘fridge for guest’s drinks and snacks, ceramic videos, magazines and books: everything needed for a studio away from home. For longer stays there are electric kilns for firing up to cone 6, or we can fire and ship your creations to you.
The large tables are also good for spreading out your own art supplies for painting or other projects.
The charge for using the studio is $5/hr./ per person (minimum $20per day).
Clay, glaze, bisque and glaze firings are charged separately.
Instruction
with Dennis (ceramic handbuilding or throwing) or Leslie (beginning painting or ceramic sculpture) is available at the rate of $40/hr. for one to 4 students, $10/hr for each additional student.
