of the Passive Solar Straw-bale Home, property and Valley

There are many catch-words used these days to describe energy efficient homes built with natural materials and respect for the land: green, eco-friendly, passive solar, low impact, non-toxic. HUMMINGBIRD is all of these things plus the energy of the artist-owner-builders and all the volunteers and craftsmen whose good will is embedded throughout.
In 1990 ceramic artists Dennis Meiners and Leslie Lee embarked on a journey unaware of where of where the road would lead them. "Our stay at Hummingbird was serene... The house and studio sit organically in the landscape as if they had grown there. The main house felt like a living thing...the curved stucco walls an embrace which encompassed our entire experience...
The house is filled with warmth and beauty... This is one of those rare experiences where the land, art, people and dwelling blend with unique perfection."

Comments:
At HUMMINGBIRD are three very different rooms from which to choose and guests are welcome to enjoy the south-east deck with comfortable chairs to enjoy the view. When it's warm breakfast usually served on the deck as well. Breakfast will vary but usually includes home-made breads and jams, farm-fresh eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt and beverages. There are several good places for lunch and dinner within short drives. And, if you want to stay connected to the wide world, hi-speed wi-fi is available. Well behaved dogs are welcome in some cases: see individual room descriptions.
The sunshine, the quiet and a canopy of stars all await you .
